The LGU of Infanta Hosts the Welcome Ball of the Department of Education’s First Congressional Athletic Meet 2016

The 2016 First Congressional District Athletic Meet, an annual event organized by the Department of Education in the Division of Quezon, was held in the Municipality of Infanta on September 8 to 11. To warm up the officials and delegates from the twelve participating towns in the First District of Quezon, the Local Government Unit of Infanta hosted the much-awaited Welcome Ball at the Infanta Social Center where food, drinks, and entertainment greeted the guests, who all came in bright, colorful, floral attire that added to the festive mood of the evening.
The program started with a doxology sung by one of the teachers from Infanta National High School (INHS), followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the INHS Students and Faculty Choir (top right). Immediately after this was the singing of Mabuhay KaInfanta, the official hymn of the Municipality, by the LGU Choir (lower right), composed of members from different LGU offices. The LGU choir was newly formed and the occasion served as its very first performance.
As part of the program, speeches were given. Following Infanta Vice Mayor Noli H. Villamor, who rendered the Welcome Address, Infanta Municipal Mayor Filipina Grace R. America deliverd an inspirational message, not forgetting to mention the hardwork of the organizer, the LGU employees, and INHS to thank them for all the sacrifices they made to carry out the task of hosting the athletic meet. Dr. Marita A. Pionilla (upper right picture), DepEd Quezon’s Education Program Supervisor, and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Merthel M. Evardome (lower right picture), each gave their speeches to thank all who attended, emphasizingthe relevance of this year’s theme: ”Quezonian Athletes: Leap High Like Dolphins, Fight for Constant Victory!”
The highlights of the night were the performances of the six (6) districts after each was introduced and made their way to the center of the plaza for their walk or paseo. Of course, the LGU of Infanta wowed everyone with their hidden talents when the LGU Choir performed their rendition of Nonoy Zuñiga’s Magandang Gabi sa Inyong Lahat, and more so when Mayor America together with Vice Mayor Villamor led a group of LGU employees and SB Officials in a Hawaiian/Tahitian dance production number wearing grass skirts and floral polo shirts.
