Infanta Booth Tops Niyogyugan Festival 2016 Booth Competition Category A

The Province of Quezon celebrated the annual Nyogyugan Festival at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Lucena City. The festivities lasted for ten (10) days beginning the 18th of August 2016. As part of the big celebration, there were four (4) categories for competition which included Street Dancing Contest, Search for the Binibining Nyogyugan 2016, and Search for the Best Float and the Best Booth.

The Best Booth Competition, in which the Municpality of Infanta participated, was divided into two (2) categories – category A included first and second class municipalities, while category B was for the third class municipalities. Out of the 17 municipalities and 2 cities (total of 19 towns) that participated in category A, the booth entry of Infanta was named the Best Booth for 2016, beating the 1strunner-up position the Municipality received in the same contest last year. As a reward, a trophy, a plaque of appreciation, and a cheque amounting to Three Million Pesos(P3,000,000.00) worth of project were all awarded to Infanta. The eight (8) other towns that joined the list of winners in the said competition included the Municipalities of Tagkawayan (2nd), Gumaca (3rd), Sariaya (4th), Mauban (5th), and Pagbilao (7th), and the cities of Tayabas (6th) and Lucena (8th).

Infanta’s prized booth was designed by Architect Edwin Nolledo, a private practitioner and resident of this municipality. Hereceived a Certificate of Appreciation from the LGU on September 5 during the weekly morning devotion. The booth also served as a stall wherein various products from our town were sold including fresh fruits, root crops, and vegetables, peanut butter, atsara, rice cakes namely Puto and Pasingaw, fruit candies, cookies, and palm wine or lambanog. The top selling product in this provincial festival was also proudly Infanta-made: our very famous and well-loved Suman, which sold a total of 5,403 bundles and generated close to half a million pesos during the entire duration of the celebration.
